In the current issue of Dazed, we present the rising stars that are stepping up to the challenges of cutting-edge British cinema in a young actors portfolio that includes the likes of Nicholas Hoult, Harry Treadaway, Antonia Campbell-Hughes and more. Matt Irwin shot them on Super 8 in order to produce the stills for the feature and cut a film from the footage. "It was brilliant to work with so much young talent," he says. "I shot the story over a couple of weeks in the summer. All of the pictures are shot on film, I'm getting sick of digital pictures – everything looks the same. I actually did the Super 8 to take stills from, not to make a film, but I had enough at the end to make this short. I like Super 8, it's a very honest and charming format, there's no hiding behind special effects or retouching, what you see is what you get... and I like that."
