20 years after Pavement, Sebadoh and Guided by Voices first made waves, a new generation of bands are embracing the DIY values they exalted, whilst making a sound that’s uniquely their own. In the October issue of Dazed, we examine the worldwide movement, interviewing bands from London, New York to Portland and San Diego and Columbus. On Dazed Digital we have extended interviews with Trailer Trash Tracys, Wavves, Grouper, Kurt Vile, Psychedelic Horseshit, Woods, Blank Dogs, Dum Dum Girls, Times New Viking, Teengirl Fantasy, Thee Oh Sees, The Bitters, Vivian Girls, A Grave With No Name, Let’s Wrestle and lo-fi legends, Robert Pollard and Lou Barlow. Each band has also contributed a song for a special Dazed Digital lo-fi mixtape, many of them exclusively previewed here. Peter Sutherland and Maggie Lee have also made a film on the Woodsist Festival in Brooklyn, New York featuring many of the lo-fo bands.
